The bazaar in Osh is one of Central Asia’s largest, with stalls selling everything from clothes to sacks of potatoes to fresh meat.
Traditional Kyrgyz clothing, like many cultures’ clothing, has been replaced by modern fashion these days. However, the traditional ak kalpak felt hat still lives on; I see it all around town, worn by men in casual clothes, Muslim jellabas, business suits, etc. I also saw it on a groom in a wedding procession I caught a glimpse of.
I think they’re actually kind of cool looking, so I shop for one. They’re similar to Pharrell’s famous hat, only with patterns and a tassel on top. — #happy #getlucky
